This event starts at the McPherson Community Center and heads south towards Cleburne.

Please know that construction in the area can cause changes not on the maps.

Please sign up for your preferred ride:

Group A – Fast
Drop ride, no formal ride leader.

This event has been reinstated as of August 20, 2026 as McDaniel Road construction has been completed. The new chip seal surface removed all the potholes between Kelly Road and Treetop Drive. This section does have a gravel feel that will smooth over the next month. CAUTION is recommended, especially at the S curve near Kelly Road (loose gravel).

This event starts behind the Benbrook YMCA. Go past the YMCA and on the west side and you’ll see the restroom at the south end of the parking lot, near the ball fields and track. The event travels through Holiday Park along Benbrook Lake and then west along residential and country roads.

The Corp of Engineers requires a $2 fee with a credit card to enter the park or a pass. Save your receipt as one receipt works in both parks.

New Cyclists to FWBA: Welcome! The scheduled rides will typically have three main groups—A, B, and C—as described below. Riders need to be able to meet the pace and distance requirements to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.

At the start of each ride, the Ride Leader will identify the pace and distance groups and provide a brief overview of the day's ride. All riders are expected to download their preferred route to a Ride with GPS (RWGPS)-compatible device and carry sufficient water and nutrition for the ride. The main route does not have a water refill stop, so be sure to carry enough water for the distance you plan to ride.

The main route is an out-and-back course, allowing you to shorten your ride by choosing when to turn around. The ride will start promptly at the designated time, so please arrive early to get ready. Also, please be aware that construction in the area may result in changes that are not reflected on the route maps.

Please sign up for your preferred ride:

Group A – Fast
Drop ride; no formal ride leader.
47 miles at an average speed of 18+ mph, typically using the "LBenbrook-47" route. There are no water refill stops on this ride. If a rider needs to fall back to Group B, they may wait for that group anywhere along the route.

Group B – Standard (Primary Group)
42-47 miles at an average speed of 16–17 mph, depending on conditions, using the "LBenbrook-47" route. There are no water refill stops on this ride. Regroup points will be held approximately every 10 miles.

Group C – Social

This event starts at the McPherson Community Center and heads south towards Cleburne.

Larry Strong (254)459-2893

Drop ride, but with a Ride Leader for support.
42-47 miles at an average speed of 16–17 mph, depending on conditions, using the "LBenbrook-47" route. There are no water refill stops on this ride. Regroup points will be held approximately every 10 miles.

Group C – Social
Drop ride, no formal ride leader.
Please sign up with the "Rusty Romp Thursday Edition" event on our calendar. It starts at the same location.

River View routes are numerous, with trees covering much of the road or lined with trees. The most notable rest stop is Cleburne State Park approx 18 miles from the end.. The routes 45 miles and over are memorable due to the road being covered with steep treed slopes. It is not a typical TX country road event. If you like a more scenic route, try the 60 and 78 mile routes to see the old truss bridge over the expansive Brazos River. The 60 mile route takes you to the bridge and then you turn around. The 78 mile route crosses the river then continues on to your REST STOP/Bernard Street Bakery (the best) at the Tiger Mart. for yummy goodies, worth the extra miles. Please click on link to register at https://www.fwbaclub.org/

         - Dinner (FWBA covers the main dish) with our unique tee shirt presentation.

         - 46 mile ride to Utopia and back (unsupported).

Notes :

1. All rides start at Frio Pecan Farm. We will roll out at 8:00 am near the Pavilion

2. Each day we will have the opportunity to have dinner together as a group at Frio Pecan Farms. Leakey is a rural community with limited food options.

FAQ’s

Q: What kind of supplies will SAG provide?

A: SAG will have ice, snacks (cookies, chips, crackers) & drinks (water, Gatorade, cokes, V8). They will also have a bike pump and supplies for fixing flats and minor mechanical issues.

Q: Do I have to ride the entire ride?

A: No! Not only can you coordinate with SAG to be dropped off/picked up, but you can also pick & choose which days you’d like to ride. Bonus: if you’re not riding one day, we’d always welcome more help with SAG!

Q: Can I share a room with someone?

A: Yes! Let us know if this is something you’d be interested in, and we would be happy to put you in contact with others who are interested in the same.

Q: Is there a need for help with SAG?

A: Always! If your significant other is coming but not riding, this is a great way to include them in the fun. Ways to help include prepping snacks, icing drinks, serving lunch on Day 1 and checking on riders along the route.

Q: If I want to ride all 3 days, what dates should I book a room?

A: Check-in Thursday 10/15 and check out Sunday 10/18. Ask about late checkout.

Q: For Friday’s potluck, can I buy supplies there?

A: Leakey has a few stores to buy groceries. There are no stores in the Frio Pecan Farm community where you can purchase food and beverages. FWBA alway service grilled chicken at the Pot Luck Dinner. It was so good at our recent August 2025 special event.

Meal plans for Leakey are in the works and will be announced soon.

Ride details are in RideWithGPS below!
