Organization Meeting is Wednesday, 7:30pm, August 11th @ Stone Village Tourist Camp, 509 State St, Fort Davis.

Thursday, August 12th thru Saturday, Aug 14th, 2021. (Ft Davis is cool in Aug)

Make your own lodging reservations, then just show up for any or all rides. Stone Village is the most popular with kitchenettes or inexpensive camp rooms. All rides start at Stone Village. 9:00 am Thursday & 8:00 am Friday & Saturday. Each day we’ll announce where we meet for dinner.

Thursday, Aug 12th, 9 am is a 35, 54, or 94 mile ride, mostly downhill from Fort Davis to Balmorhea State Park for a swim in the famous San Solomon Spring. The 54 adds an interesting out & back to the Boy Scout Ranch, & the 94 climbs back to Ft Davis. Snorkel Gear enhances & can be rented at a nearby dive shop. You can arrange for you & your bike to be hauled back up to Ft Davis at our organization meeting 6pm Wed, Aug 11th @ the Stone Village Information meeting.

Friday, Aug 13th, 8am, is a 75 mile ride. Fort Davis to Alpine; then Marfa; and back to Fort Davis.

Saturday, Aug 14th, 8am, we’ll do the famous 75 mile Davis Mountains Scenic Loop which includes 6 mountain passes.

However, we might vote to change the schedule at the meeting on Wed., August 11th.

Fort Davis is cooler than here, due to being 5,000 feet altitude in the Davis Mountains of West Texas. August there is usually cooler than June or July.

Indian Lodge in the Davis Mountains State Park is a good place to stay, & very interesting. The State Park is awesome for RVs or tents. Check many options including bed & breakfast. There are Star Parties at the McDonald Observatory, but make reservations early - they sell out.

Feel free to call, email, or text with any other questions.

Thanks, FWBA
