Schreiner University & the Kerrville Community

are Delighted to Invite you to EHCT 2021!!

2021 COVID and Winter Storm Change of plan

Many of you are aware that the Kerrville cyclists and Schreiner University are committed to continuing this Texas Hill Country cycling tradition. Last year's COVID onslaught was a surprise, and now this year's lingering effects have not cleared as we expected. Coming out of COVID closures and also cleaning up after Winter Storm Uri are still affecting our ability to implement our full EHCT plan that lives up tEHCT's tradition of excellence. So for a second year, we cannot do the fully supported Easter Weekend event.

But like legendary test pilot Chuck Yeager said, "You back up, but you don't give up!"

After last year's last-minute cancelation, many of you requested the ride maps so you could come down anyway and ride the beautiful routes.  So this year, that is our back-up plan! A "Virtual Tour", EHCT-style. We will offer you “the keys” to our town for the full month of April to come ride the routes we had planned for the Tour weekend. Not only will you be able to enjoy the wildflowers, but also many of our local businesses will offer you perks when you show them your EHCT key. The Y.O. Hotel will honor the EHCT pricing for the whole month of April, if you tell them you are with the EHCT virtual ride. Start/Finish location will be the lovely Louise Hayes Park, and rest stops will be nearby available convenience stores.

How this will work when you register with a $25 fee:

  • Offer good for April 1 - 30, 2021
  • Gain access to the maps for the Tour routes (RidewithGPS files or PDF cue sheets)
  • Acquire a “key to the city” which garners you various perks at local restaurants and other services
  • Receive a $10 discount applied to the 2022 tour.

Next year, fingers crossed, COVID will not be as prevalent an issue and we will be able to offer lots of really fun additions to the traditional EHCT schedule. Here are a few of the ideas we had hoped to offer this year: live music at the Trailhead Beer Garden, new bar located on Schreiner’s campus, a game night of washers or sand volleyball, food trucks for after your ride, maybe even a family Easter parade.

We do hope to see you here this year, please register for our virtual tour.

Experience the charm and hospitality of the Texas Hill Country and three days of the best riding Texas has to offer.  Quiet, well-paved roads, fully-stocked rest stops and panoramic scenery have made the Easter Hill Country Tour one of the premier cycling events in Texas, with routes suitable for all categories of participants from novices to experienced riders.

Join 1,000 other like-minded cyclists and see why the EHCT is an Easter weekend tradition.  All rides offer cue sheets, maps, road markings, and GPS files.  The Friday and Saturday rides are fully-supported with rest stops and SAG vehicles.  We have a great post-ride picnic with area food trucks on Saturday. On Easter Sunday you may venture out for a final ride out into the country.  You’ll enjoy a relaxed, friendly cycling experience and, like so many of us, will want to come back again and again.
